# Weapons
|

|
|
Weapons are used to deal damage to creatures and objects. All weapons have the following properties A list of available weapons can be found in the [[04 🟡 Weapon Types|Weapon List]].
|

|
|
## Weapon Types
|
|||
|
|
### Melee Weapons
|
|||
|
|
Melee weapons are used to attack nearby targets within reach. Unless the weapon has the Reach property, melee weapons have a range of 5 feet.
|
|||
|
|
### Ranged Weapons
|
|||
|
|
Ranged weapons are used to attack targets at a distance.
|
|||
|
|
### Simple Weapons
|
|||
|
|
Simple weapons require little experience to use effectively.
|
|||
|
|
### Martial Weapons
|
|||
|
|
Martial weapons require training to use effectively.
|
|||
|
|
### Improvised Weapons
|
|||
|
|
An improvised weapon includes any object you can wield in one or two hands, such as broken glass, a table leg, a frying pan, or a dead body. When in doubt ab out how much damage an object should deal find a weapon in the Weapon List most like the object and use its base damage. Improvised weapons do not benefit form any weapon features that have been unlocked.

## Base Damage Dice
|
|||
|
|
This is the damage dice that is rolled when the weapon hits assuming it is the first attack and the weapon has not been upgraded.
|
|||
|
|
## Damage Type
|
|||
|
|
This is the base damage type and any other extra damage types dealt by the weapon.
|
|||
|
|
## Capacity
|
|||
|
|
_Ranged Only_
|
|||
|
|
|
|||
|
|
This is the maximum amount of ammo a ranged weapon can hold which indicates how many attacks can be made with the weapon before it needs to be reloaded.
|
|||
|
|
## Range
|
|||
|
|
All weapons have information regarding their effective range and the roll required to hit from that range. Melee weapons are typically limited to within 10 feet while ranged weapons require a very high roll to hit a target within that range.
|
|||
|
|
### Range Categories
|
|||
|
|
There are 8 range categories used to determine the DV of hitting a target with a ranged attack. If the target is in the optimal range of a weapon the DV to hit the target is 15. For every category closer to the attacker than the optimal range increase the DV by 3. For every category farther from the attacker than the optimal range increase the DV by 5. A table of Single Shot DVs can be found in Appendix [[04 🟡 Weapon Types#Single Shot DVs Based on Range|D.2 Weapon Types]].

- 0 to 5 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 6 to 15 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 16 to 30 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 31 to 60 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 61 to 100 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 101 to 200 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 201 to 400 feet
|
|||
|
|
- 401 to 800 feet
|
|||
|
|
## Skill
|
|||
|
|
This is the skill that is used with the weapon. Unless the GM says otherwise use Agility as the linked Attribute.
|

|
|
## Minimum Strength
|
|||
|
|
All weapons have a minimum strength required to use the item effectively. If a character does not meet this requirement they have disadvantage on all attacks using this weapon and the damage dealt is halved.
|
|||
|
|
## Weapon Properties
|
|||
|
|
Weapon properties modify or describe special situations for a weapon. For example, some weapons need to be reloaded or deal non-lethal damage. These types of weapons have properties that describe the modifications. A list of properties can be found in the Appendix [[06 ❌ Weapon Properties]].
