Whenever a character makes a roll to determine if thy succeed in a task they are making a Check.
A check consists of a d20 roll plus two modifiers. Which modifiers are used are based on the type of check and the goal of the character.

Skill checks are types of [[1 Checks]] that are typically called for when a character is trying to do something. When the GM calls for a Skill Check they will typically name one [[Version 1/Notes/2 Attributes/Attributes|Attribute]] and one [[Skills|Skill]] which will be used as modifiers to the roll.

An Attack Roll is a specific [[2 Skill Checks|Skill Check]] that is called for when the goal of a task is to deal damage. The modifiers for an Attack Roll are always [[Version 1/Notes/2 Attributes/1 Physical/Agility]] and the relevant [[Skills| Skill]]. If the character is using a weapon the weapon will list the [[Skills|Skill]] that is to be used. If the character is unarmed they will either use [[Version 1/Notes/3 Skills/Skills/Brawling]] or [[Martial Arts]].

Saving throws are special type of [[1 Checks]] that are typically used when the character is trying to deal with something happening to them. When a saving throw is called for the GM will name one or two [[Version 1/Notes/2 Attributes/Attributes]] to be used as modifiers for the roll. If only one attribute is named that attribute is added as a modifier twice.

When rolling damage dice if a die rolls the maximum value it can roll the die explodes meaning that you may roll it again and add the new roll to the previous roll. There is no limit to the number of times a die can explode.
